General Info

Tucked along Mwambenja Road in Mbeya, Maua Cafe And Activities offers a relaxed and welcoming spot that feels both local and thoughtfully curated. From the moment you step in, the quiet atmosphere stands out-it’s the kind of place where you can actually enjoy your meal without noise or rush.

The menu is simple but satisfying, focusing on comfort food with a fresh twist. One of the highlights during my visit was the beef burger, served juicy and well-seasoned. It pairs perfectly with a chilled glass of passion fruit juice, which brings a bright, tangy balance to the richness of the burger. If you’re stopping by earlier in the day, their breakfast options feel wholesome, especially with organic dishes that give a sense of care in preparation.

Another must-try is the chips mayai, a local favorite done right here. It’s filling, flavorful, and cooked with just the right texture-crispy on the outside while soft inside. I also couldn’t resist sampling the hot chocolate, which was smooth and comforting, especially in the calm setting of the cafe. For something lighter, the pineapple juice is refreshing and naturally sweet, making it a great choice alongside any meal.

Dessert lovers won’t feel left out either. The chocolate cake here is rich without being overwhelming, and it rounds off the dining experience nicely. It’s clear that the kitchen pays attention to balance, both in flavors and portions.

Service is another strong point. The availability of delivery makes it convenient if you prefer to enjoy the food at home, while the dine-in experience benefits from thoughtful touches like a gender-neutral restroom and an overall inclusive, easygoing environment. Everything feels designed to make guests comfortable.

What stood out most during my visit was how consistent the experience felt. From the menu selections to the quiet ambiance, Maua Cafe And Activities delivers a dependable spot for both casual meals and relaxed meetups. It’s the kind of place where reviews often highlight not just the food, but the overall feeling you get while being there-calm, satisfied, and already thinking about what to try next time.

What customers say?

“ This place is absolutely incredible! A must visit if you are nearby! It's a beautiful garden cafe with wifi! The food is equally amazing. The best Carrot cake I have ever had in my life. Moist and not sure what that frosting is but it's delicious! This is family owned from what I could tell. Much pride in their business. Cute well priced homemade gift shop and also it is good for large groups! 5 stars and if I could give it more, I would. Blessings on your business! ”

“ A little pocket of Europe hidden in the sweeping plateaus of East Africa, Maua Cafe is simply one of the best food spots in this area of the world. 5 stars! You will enjoy your meal surrounded by flowers, birds, and literal magic. The permenant menu items of wraps, burgers, breakfast foods, and baked goods always satisfy, and the rotating lineup of specials NEVER disappoint. There are plenty of vegetarian options! This is also the perfect place to treat yourself to a milkshake, slice of cake, or bar of locally produced chocolate. It would be a disservice to yourself to not go to this cafe, don't fail! 5 stars! ”

“ I highly recommend this place! Such a cool and relaxed vibe. There is also a cute shop there with a lot of handcrafted stuff, like bags and jewelry. I bought a lot for Christmas gifts but was 1000 tzk short in the end, and one of the waitresses offered to pay the rest which was truly so nice and appreciated. I said I would just go to the ATM but she insisted. ”
